Buying a 911

Hi,
I'm a guy from the 914 world, but I've always wanted a 911 . I saw this one and I'm really in love with it's looks, but I don't know to much bout the 911 history. I'm thinking the 74's had 2.4 6's but i'm not to sure. Does the price seam to low? I've always heard that 10K is the bottom. Well any how thanks in advance.

Pretty car, are you planning to drive down & look at the car ? It's like a 30 min. drive for me. I could swing over in my new 80 SC & check it for rust. Email me if your interested. You want to be careful about rust with this car because the factory didn't galvinize the body. If the body checks out I would get a leak down test by a local mechanic.

Get a PPI. Check to see if the rebuild was done properly (reciepts etc). While this is a car with the infamous 2.7L engines, it should also not hav ethe thermal reactors and may be quite ok.

Good luck.

914 guy...

You are aready an early porsche person. In order to make the transer to a 911 guy you must seek the correct car for you.

The bulk if this board will direct you toward a much later model 911. They are correct in doing so. However, thier cars cannot match the driving experience that you expect from your 914. Really none of the rear engine cars will.

The 67 through 73 cars are exquisite. But, the market has discovered the rearity of these vehicles and the price for a good rust free example is rising daily.

I would suggest that you attept to drive an early car before you purchase a post 78 non sun roof coupe that you can hot rod later.

One of the rust treated big bumper cars would be your best bet. The guys here will take over.

No one here want's to here from the short wheel base, narrow body, 2.0 liter, steel wheels with hub caps guy any way. Shawn
