Jim,
I do not have the modified air deflectors. In retrospect I should have done them when I had the engine out but frankly I had no clue what I was doing at the time. |
Oil Temps
With respect to maintaining decent oil temps, my wrench stated that the engines cooling fan does not provide sufficient cooling when at idle. If you find yourself stuck in traffic on a hot day, the best thing to do is raise the idle to 2,000-2,500 rpms. This will draw more air and should prevent overheating. Do this BEFORE the oil temps get too hot. This will not cool down the oil once it's overheated. Of course, this assumes your various engine components are working correctly to begin with.
With my recent 2.2 rebuild (S pistons, E cams), I have not seen any issues with high oil temps...of course the weather has yet to get hot (or sunny!!) here in VA. Do the 2.4's have more issues with oil temps than the 2.2's? Sorry I missed the engine drop, looked liked a lot of fun! -Dan |
oops, wrong thread. :(

I guess I missed another one. OH well. When the sky is dry I have to work on the project. Lately, that has not been very often and always conflicts with other things.
One day you will have to help me put the engine back in my car. |
