If you don't have or want to go to headers, I suggest a Fabspeed euro premuffler in place of the factor cat, along with a stock-style muffler.

I was running a Fabspeed premuffler with a Dansk 1-in-2-out in my '87 3.2 and it was a bit too loud for comfort at highway speeds with the windows open.

Oh, and I also have, and VERY strongly recommend, a Steve Wong chip. I have a 93 octane chip because I can get that in my area.

Given the OP's wife-friendly use case, I'd suggest Dansk 84mm Sport for 1 in / 1 out (optionally, with a pre-muffler). For 2 in / 1 out, I'd suggest Dansk 60mm Sport.

SCART Riva would be the next step.

I went with the RarlyL8 RSR headers and GT3 muffler. Sounds great with no drone. My wife and I have no problem having a conversation.

Would REALLY like to hear a or multiple sound clips of this...

I have a nicely massaged 3.0 with an M&K 911r which sounds great, but have been wanted to go GT3 Muffler for a while but the set-up is rare and have yet to hear one.

While you wait for the new exhaust, plug one of the pipes on the M&K. It helps.

Our Bypass Muffler is already installed in two of our projects. You can choose two modes "wife mode" (silent) or "no wife mode" (loud, very loud).

If he’s stock then prairie dawg has stock heat exchangers so he’s looking for a ‘one in’ - back box setup.

Has anyone ever seen / heard this scart in action:

My wife rides with me on many of my long road trips. The longest was just under 5,000 miles over 10 days. From 100+ degree temps to sub freezing temps. I am a geezer, so I still have my stock exhaust, and heat exchangers, full footwell blowers, and a kick ass AC system from Griffiths.

12 hours of driving is no big deal, and I have a happy wife with me for the night.

This is with my helmet bag and tool bag still in the car. Taking a wife does add to the luggage a LOT!.

So enjoy your loud exhaust, I will stick to my stock muffler, and fantastic heat, and great AC. 41 sates and Canada so far on a goal of hitting all the lower 48.

Congrats, how did you manage to get all the luggage in your vehicle? Are you towing a little trailer?

The "secret" is to have a lot of small bags to stuff into corners. The large bag on the bottom right fits like a glove behind the seats, and is almost locked in place by the lip on the seat backs when the seats are folded down. The smaller luggage fits in the trunk, and everything else is packed around it in the small areas.

This is from 2022, our trip to the Poconos. You can see my wife wanted new luggage, so now we have new luggage. Happy wife = happy life.

The other photo is from Savannah, GA back in 2011.

My wife usually falls asleep when we ride together. She loves the sound of the engine, she says it relaxes her.

I run a Dansk Euro Premuff and a Dansk SS spot muffler with the 84mm outlet.

It is just enough rumble.
