What are these brown wires under the drivers seat?
Car is an 84 Targa
While checking a few things out I came across these 2 brown wires under driver seat. The ends are male and female. Wires come out of the wire harness right in front of the DME. It appears they should be plugged together but I wanted to check here first to find out what they were and if they should indeed be plugged together. TIA ![]() |

They are for smog testing. Plug them together when you smog and it retards timing in the map from what i have gathered.

That is a coding plug (plug 10) that as stated above alters mapping which allowed compliance with emissions at the time. It was only connected on California cars in North America.
