Penthouse magazine and Porsche
phscollectorcarworld: Those vintage Porsche Gals- special on Dominique Maure
"By: Patrick H Smith In the annals of Madison Avenue sales world, the most sacred selling technique is a reliance on a likable spokesperson to pitch the product. Failing that, a handsome male or gorgeous female model is the next likely candidate. In true huckster fashion, the less vital an object is for use, the more likely a model will be used to sell the article. Discretionary income purchases make up the bulk of lucrative advertising accounts so there's a lot of business to be had, convincing people they need that latest gizmo. If the product is aligned somehow with an object of high value, such as a Porsche, the job can be made easier or harder. While Porsche owners tend to have plenty of discretionary income to buy accessories and special products designed to enhance or maintain their cars, they aren't as a rule, profligate spenders. They tend to be an astute bunch of people. A psychograph of the typical Porsche s owner conducted in the 1980s concluded that the Porsche buyer usually owned more than one car. ...." ![]() "Let's start with this ad for Turbo-Wash car cleaning wands. Released in 1989, it was a system sold with suds solution and car wash style spray on wax pellets which you installed in the cartridge. They were like little yellow suppositories, yech. You hooked up the Turbo Wash unit to your existing garden hose and the water went through the solution container and into the wand which amped up the pressure via orifice restrictors and provided a nice powerful jet to clean off the grime and road dust off your prized 911. The comely brunette model in bathing suit as far as I know, was not an option." ![]() Last edited by 72doug2,2S; 07-29-2023 at 09:53 AM.. |

Everyone know sex sells.
![]() When I was single, this hung in my living room. It is called Turbo and Lace. Now 32 years into a marriage, it hangs on my garage wall. Next to it is the old timing light, dwell meter, and oil can openers for the 1980s.

"Apparently one of Monique's duties was assisting Gianpiero Moretti serve up
fresh pasta at the race events. Moretti being Italian of course, knew how to make outstanding fare. I never, ever had a bad meal in Italy. What a place. The race sponsorship promotion deal was kick started by Penthouse but nothing concrete had firmed up in 1979 when talks started. Dominique recalled in a later interview, "I knew nothing about auto racing. I did know that Penthouse was planning some assignment with me related to auto racing so I had the wild idea that I should learn how to drive a race car. She was sent to Bob Bondurant's race school in California. Dominique did learn to drive a sports car at speed and enjoyed the straight aways. She didn't like the cornering and drifting so much. That gave her serious pause about doing this for a job. She knew she didn't have "it." She gained a new level of respect for the drivers though which made her job easier." |
