Window power switch shut off

Started my DIY RS door card project, and finished the driver side. But after wiring everything back up, my windows move up and down even when the key isnt in ignition AND after opening driver door.

BUT when i reach over and open my passenger door it kills power to the windows.. what did i do wrong? Which window switch wire dictates power shut off once door is open?

Im assuming theres a wire plugged into the passenger switch that should be plugged into the driver side switch... but i took photos before unplugging everything and referred to that when reinstalling wires...

You don't mention what car this is (model year), but this behavior in bold is as designed on later models such as my 88 Carrera.

Mine is a 87 carrera. The windows are supposed to stop working after you turn off car, and open driver door. But nothing happens after i open my driver door, power gets cut only after i open my passenger door

Not exactly. For 86-89 cars, windows stop working when you turn off the car, but they will still work as soon as you open one of the doors or both. I just checked again on mine, this is how it works. Ignition key was removed at all times during these tests.
This function is controlled by the dome lights going on and off.

So the only thing that seems wrong on your car is that power gets cut when you open passenger door. That should not happen.

On my 85, the windows will indeed work after the engine is shut off, but before the doors are opened. As soon as the doors are opened, no more window operation without turning the key back on.

Evidently that operation was changed in later models.

Glen, yes, opposite behavior on earlier models, including yours.

If you check the Bentley you'll see different electric diagrams for power windows between years 84-85 and 86 thru 89.
