sport seats
I purchased a 84 targa that had sport seats that I removed. Is there a way to determine of they are made by Recaro, or Porsche? The foam has a stamp ' 18.MRZ.1977, or at least I think...it's blurred.

Porsche doesn't make seats as far as I know. A picture would help

It's my understanding that Porsche always fitted Recaro seats- and that Porsche acquired a controlling interest in Recaro (in the late 60's, I believe). I'm not 100% sure about the very early cars. But for anything air-cooled and 70's or later, seats fitted by Porsche were made by Recaro, for Porsche.

Porsche bought part of Reutter (REutter CAROsserie) in the 60's. The remaining part make seats, which they build for several car manufacturers, including Porsche, as well as their aftermarket lines.

The bases are not sport seats. The backrests are... weird.

Mine from my '85 had a Recaro label under the hinge cover on the driver side
