Oil Tank connections on '73 2.4 911T

Hey everybody,

I’d appreciate if anybody could explain the connections on the oil tank to me. My car is a carbureted 911T.

Either ‘1’ or ‘2’ is supposed to be connected to the breather plate on top of the engine. Which one is it and what about the other two ports?

Also, is the rubber plug on port 3 correct?

Thanks!

Looks like a later oil tank to me. My 73 (US-model) did not come with the extra small outlet port #3, which was used for emission equipment later on. Can be plugged as shown in your picture. Port #1 connects to the air filter, Port #2 to the engine breather (triangle of death).

Looks like a 84 on Carrera oil tank, so 3 is unused and stays capped.
As buster73 stated, 1 should go to the air filter, 2 engine breather

Perfect, thank you guys!

My car has this kind of air filters so I guess I can't connect it to port 1.

I will try to just install a small air filter on top and if it gets to messy I will install a catch tank.

Looking at the PET, I find this drawing for the Carb'ed motors.

Line 13 (2 in your picture) is the one that goes to the fitting in the triangle of death. There is no secondary vent to the air cleaner. Just cap it.

There are two openings in the K&N water sheds to connect to the vent hoses. The two smaller vent hoses connect to the larger main vent hose via a t-coupler.
I mounted my t-coupler up high. Not original but helps to prevent accumulation of
sludge in the low hanging hoses.
