How is the throttle coupler supposed to be installed?
Hey everybody,
I have a question regarding the throttle linkage coupler P/N 91142308102. According to the parts catalog there is supposed to be a nut on both sides of the coupler. This would eliminate the play in the coupler which doesn’t seem correct. How is it supposed to be installed correctly? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1695147987.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1695148052.jpg |
I think this site has been up for over 20 years
There are probably hundreds of threads explaining your question. SEARCH is your best friend |
The rods thread into the coupler

Thank you both - of course I searched this and other forums before posting.
Any help with my question regarding the nuts is much appreciated. thanks! |

You are overthinking this. The nuts are jam nuts to keep the rods from unscrewing. You put the nuts on the rods leaving lots of thread showing. You screw the ends of the rods into the coupler threads until they bottom. Tighten the nuts against the coupler as a jam nut. |
This makes sense to me for the "old style" coupler as shown in your link. The new style has about 5mm play in it which is eliminated completely if I put nuts on both ends.
Why would Porsche design a coupler with obvious play just to cancel it out? |
Always wondered about that.
