She desperately needs some love after DDing for 3 years. Giving her a break this winter and gonna get the fan cleaned up, simplify some wiring, and clean it all up a bit. Finally bit the bullet and got rid of all but 2 vacuum lines, don't know why I waited so long.

Here is the engine bay in my ‘74. I swapped in a 3.6 with PMO itb’s, modified an MFi airbox to work with the PMO’s, and backdated the heater feeds. Then I generally cleaned up the routing of everything and eliminated most of the unused wiring, trying to keep it all as simple and tidy as I could.

I’m running the Racetronix 1 liter catch can on the pass side just in front of the motor. I made some mounting feet for it so it sits on the chassis rail. Mine is plumbed into my airboxes, but it doesn’t have to be.

In the pictures above I was just running a 123 distributor. The coil was in the fuel accumulator/filter mount up on the front left. That’s been removed.

I just added an MSD for the performance gains. The wires join at a terminal block for easy maintenance.

Interested to know a bit more about this 2.5, please. Short stroke/long stroke, compression, P&Cs, mods to Webers, etc. and closer pic of left inner and firewall mounter hardware.
Thanks.

Original 2.0lt opened up to 90mm, original crank (66mm) so short stroke.

P&C Mahle Euro RS 90mm 2.7 8.5:1 comp. S cams, 2.7 heads. S distributor

Weber's were reconditioned and initial set up by Performance Oriented.

Nothing special about the engine panel. Factory ballast resistor, Ashlock Tac adaptor, Blue Bosch coil, Faucet fuel pump, Beru voltage regulator.

Best pic I have before engine install

Thanks for the interest

Joe D

Before, during and after…

I had mixed feelings about this because while the engine bay was tatty looking, it was mostly due to time rather than neglect.

Cleaning things up meant using some non-standard finishes, so it came out tidy, but never original again…

Thank you for the pics and details. That motor must be a blast! I’m taking special note of the fuel distribution layout.
Cheers,
Johan
