911SC electrical/lighting questions

Hey all,

Recently picked up a ROW 83 911SC that has a couple of relatively minor electrical issues, hoping you guys can help.

The most pressing is that the speedometer backlight doesn't turn on when the headlights are on. The light in the speedo definitely works - when I pull the switch out halfway, the backlight works fine. When I pull the switch out fully to turn on the headlights, every instrument turns on *except* for the speedometer. I figure there's something wrong with the switch itself?

The second is that the left side running lights don't work. I've replaced the fuse a couple of times, and they keep busting. I removed the headlight assembly and I don't see any issues with how the light is wired. How do I access the wires inside the fenders though?
