Time for Big Bear Run III!
I’m finally home and have had a week to settle in and now it’s time for Big Bear Run III! Of course my schedule is a little haywire right now after being away from home for so long. I’d like to get an idea of what dates in the next couple months sound good to everyone.
The dates that I know are no good are… June 29th I think is the TRE run. July 4th weekend July 19th July 26th Sunday July 20th looks best for me right now and August looks pretty open so far but it seems like a long way off and it will be pretty hot. What do guys think? The side notes for me are that I couldn’t wait to get in my car and drive when I got home. I let the extra air out of the tires and cranked her right up. She drove just as great as when I left, felt like a go-cart compared to anything else I’ve driven in the last few months. It’s good to be home. This run will probably be the last run with the 3.0. I’m putting the engine up for sale soon and starting to prep her for a 3.6 that will hopefully be complete by the end of summer. I can’t wait to get together with you guys again. I hope everyone can make it and we even get a few new guys. Remember we had 19 for Big Bear Run II. I still can’t believe we had so many great cars and cool people. Let’s start planning! Paul, don’t you still owe me a ride? ![]()

Calling the run "BB3" makes my bank account nervous, for some reason. "BBR3" sounds better to me.
![]() July 20 sounds good.

Welcome back. Took you long enough. Hopefully Cristy came back safely as well.
July 20 sounds good and it's about time. I think there have been at least 4 3.6 conversions since you shiiped off. It just has to be a Sunday since I have outrigger canoe races each Saturday through August. Quote:

Thanks for the greetings guys! I hope to see all of you there, even those rowdy RGruppe guys.
![]() Thanks for asking Paul, Kristy left the same day I did, we were sort of together while we were there (15 apart when we weren't working), and we came home the same day. And yeah, if you are offering, I’ll get behind the wheel of Black Bird any day. After discussing it with my significant other, I think July 20th would be the best. I will post a thread tomorrow on the date being the 20th of July and detailing the run. I was thinking of heading up the 38 this time since a lot of guys scattered after breakfast last time. The 38 is so much more fun, I’d hate for anyone to miss it. What do you guys think?

Hey Ryan,
Welcome Back! Glad to see you back on the board, July 20 sounds good and the route change would be great. I was one of the few that scattered for a prior commitment. I'll keep my day open for the full run this time ![]()

Ryan,
welcome back home. I can imagine how it is to be away for prolonged times. IT SUCKS. I am one of the "at least four" conversions. I finally pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago. The car is a blast and I can't wait to get back and drive it a little more. If I am in town on the 20th count me in for BBRIII. I might be in for the TRE event as well. Ingo

Ryan:
First of all, welcome back. Thank you for your service. Were you aware that the Porsche Club of America is doing its Solvang wine tasting run on July 19 and 20? Would it make sense to try to find another day for BBRIII, maybe in August? Thanks for organizing this.

A few guys are having a hard time with July 20th. What other dates won’t work? I would like to keep it on a Sunday. If we can’t come up with a better date we’ll go with July 20th but I’d like to try to get everyone there. Help me out guys.

How about a weekend in August? TRE's event is in June; PCA's event is in July; and BBR3 in August would make it a summer trifecta!
Thoughts? Comments? Scott

How about August 10th?? I lied about the second weekend in August, just the 9th is booked after checking with my event coordinator.
![]() Edit: I could also make July 27th work if I had to, I'll be pretty tired though. That's the only other day in July that could work for me other than the 20th.

You're probably gonna kill me, or PCA, but if you'll look on page 7 of the current edition of Porsche-rama (Los Angeles region), you'll see that PCA is doing a Santa Barbara run that day (it's a one-day run). It's interesting that they're doing Solvang AND Santa Barbara. If I do Solvang in July, then I probably won't do Santa Barbara in August.

Scott, you're killing me. Unless I get guys telling me that they can’t make August 10th because of the PCA SB run, I’m not going to worry about it. I know guys are coming down from up that way so it will be a fair trade. I want to please everyone b/c I want everyone to make it but I know some are going to have conflicts no matter what, right Scott? ![]()
