Happy to help. When I picked up a trans from you a year ago, I realized you are not far from my relatives in Tarrytown.

Not just the east coast. I have shipped transmissions all around the country and around the world. Australia, Japan, UK, Dubai.

I've only driven the car about 20 miles so far. The transmission feels great. I'm using Swepco 201. I can't remember everything they did but it was a lot. That transmission had about 200,000 miles on it. Mark said it had never been opened up before. It was time.

I have to ad that Mark is a pleasure to work with. His shop isn't far from me so he even stopped by to pick up the transmission and returned it when it was done. His guys also vapor blasted and powder coated a lot of parts. They look great.

This whole project started out as a simple clutch replacement. I've done a ton more than that, new light weight fly wheel, new fuel lines, new CIS rubber boots and peanut, new stainless muffler, cross over and cat delete, new rear sway bar links and bushings, new alternator housing, new fuel injectors, sleeves, o-rings, etc. I'm sure there's more I forgot.

I'm super happy with the results. Somebody suggested that I have fixed vacuum leaks that I didn't know existed. I honestly don't know. I do know that the engine is running great. I don't think it's ever run this good since I've owned it. Combine that with Mark's 915 tranny rebuild and I've got one sweet little 911.

My only minor regret and I may change my mind as I get used to it is the light weight flywheel. I couldn't find a local shop that gave me any confidence about getting the old flywheel resurfaced. I guess there just aren't many shops that still do that kind of thing. So I decided to just buy a new one. I found new unused one Fidanza light weight for $200 so bought it.

I find, as others have said, that with less mass it needs a bit more revs starting out. It's not a lot but I do notice it. On level ground, I can get the car moving slowly with the car idling, 950RPM, without touching the gas pedal so it isn't that touchy. It does rev more freely but for my type of driving, it doesn't really matter. I wouldn't drop the engine to replace it but at this point, I'm not going to say it's a win over stock.

What was actually done to your transmission?

What was the problem?

What parts were installed in a 200k box?

The biggest single item was the pinion carrier. They send it out to another shop for that. The housing has to be machined. All the syncros were shot along with dog teeth and sliders. There's also hardware, gaskets, etc.
