Springloaded 915 shifter?! Yes, we can!

A friend of mine had a genius idea and it works stunningly well!
I installed it in my spare 915 shifter body.
Incredibly easy. You install it from below.

with this it holds the center position like a charm!

Neat! Where did you source the spring?

Looks nice! But wouldn't the spring's constant pressure on the shift lever keep the shift fork slightly pressed against the shift sleeve?

It's spring load is not as heavy as on my WEVO for example.
I guess the benefit difference is, it's pulled load, from below, whereas the load on the WEVO is from the top, pressing down.

I had the seine (?) kit in my 85 911. when installing wondered why they provided another flange for the other side of the shift rod. realized it was to take the spring load off the gearbox gears when in the 1/2 plane. that goes with the one that holds pressure off the gears when in the 5/r plane.

always more than one way to .....

It also functions as a gate so you have a physical reference of what gear you are in. Not as sexy as a Ferrari gated shifter but same concept.
