Clutch pressure plate
Looking at replacing the clutch kit on my 85 Targa.
Some ads show 20 teeth on the pressure plate, others show 24. Can you tell me what is the reason? Thanks ( currently has 24) |

Teeth??
Hi James,
By "teeth", do you mean diaphragm spring segments? There are many suppliers of clutches for our cars, you can choose standard replacement clutches, or lighter, aluminum ones that rev more quickly, but cost more or may stall more easily. There are clutches that are capable of handling more power, if you need that. I don't think the number of spring segments has much to do with quality, pressure or reliability, rather it is probably a manufacturing choice. How do you use the car, is it a daily driver, a week end hot rod, or track car?? My personal preference is for a lighter weight clutch/flywheel for a more "lively" engine response. chris |

I guess I'm referring to the pressure plate fingers or levers. There are 20 on some and some are 24
