website query
So I spent a long time a few weeks back compiling a list of gaskets and washers etc I need to replace from my stock since the recent engine teardowns. I didn't want to complete the order just then - thinking I may need to add more stuff. I haven't done this before - but 'saved' it. I didn't start a project list - but I believe I had saved my shopping list.
Now I am wondering how to find it - because I am not coming up with anything. Thanks Alan |
Were you logged in? If you log in, it usually saves stuff in the cart indefinitely afaik.
If you aren't logged in, maybe cookies were deleted or the website has a timeout that clears it. You can also start a project list and export to excel. Pelican Pro tips: Split your order. The system kicks out discounts to recent purchases. You'll get an email coupon for $20 off or 5% sometimes usually within a week of your last purchase. Make sure you get free shipping. Don't order anything that totals under the free shipping threshold ($100 i think) For big purchases, use your PCA discount once a year for 10% off! I repeat shop our host because they are usually very fast shipping-wise, they have good customer service if an order goes wrong (you can call actual humans) They are pretty knowledgeable when it comes to our niche hobby and free shipping usually helps offset for retail markup. The downside is the website search is awful. The best way to find parts is to painstakingly find a part number in the Porsche PET, then enter that part number into pelican. |
Thanks, that probably explains it. I had to clear some cookies a few days ago - issues with another website. I guess I start again.
Yes - I have had good dealings with Pelican. Recently ordered a new timing chain - Porsche spec. The website was misleading - looked like it came with the master link, but turned up without. They posted one straight off, no charge, and I think were going to change the wording on the page. Yes - I have problems with the search thing too. 50/50 success. Thanks Alan |
They got rid of the custom search engine I spent 20 years developing to replace it with this one. Just sayin...

Bring back the old one then.
Just sayin... It is a pity because the amount of gold plated info that lurks in this site is enormous. But trying to access it can be a challenge. Alan |
It's super fun when your software developer (that your paying) changes something that they think is better..... then I come in in the morning and explode and it goes back to the way it was...... good times.

There is a Saved for Later feature in the cart, and also the Project List. As mentioned, make sure you are logged in or you won't see it (note that the login is separate from the forum login).

Thats what I used - Save for Later.
And it was doing it - I checked as I ticked them off on that tab. So I am not sure where that bit has gone. Would be nice if I could find it. Have started resurrecting the list - but I did spend a lot of time on it - just after I reassembled my motor. Things are not so fresh in my mind now so the new list will not be so complete. I guess I am wondering how I get back to that 'Saved for later' list. It doesn't seem to come up. Project list does. I just did another dummy list and Saved for later was an option. Ticked that, then went to go out of that part and it seemed to put them in the cart? Were they supposed to reside in the cart? Thanks Alan |
