Help with door handle and cylinder

Hi all,

I need to replace the door handle on the drivers side of my '86 Carrera. All of the photos etc I have looked at are for cars without central locking. My car has central locking, so I am uncertain what to do. I have attached a photo. I need to separate the handle and the cylinder so I can use the existing cylinder with the new (Pelican acquired) handle. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Colin

Thanks. I don't have trouble with the handle itself, but the part that has the wire running to it. I do see a screw on that part, but it is pretty difficult to reach. I think it is a fair bit easier on cars without central locking.

The wire has a connector in the bottom of the door and comes out with the handle, its a microswitch and youczn get to it after handle is removed.

I will give that a try. There didn't seem to be enough slack in the wire for that. Fingers crossed...

This is similar to all of the photos I have seen. It is a relatively simple mechanism. This is not the case in my car.

You can unplug the connector inside the door to bring the handle to your bench to work on it
