FOR THOSE WITH AN ENGINE DRIVEN COMPRESSOR AND THE MOUNT FOR IT.....
I helped Johnny & Co make some improvements for their system so it worked better in VERY hot and VERY humid climates. Take today for example (see pic, thats in the shade at about 2pm today).
My system, with 2 condensers and works very well in my black Rat Rod, which has little/no insulation in it. No, it's not like my 2013 Panamera in terms of performance. It SMOKES my 89 Carrera's upgrades system that is basically the Griffiths system.....but from a different manufacturer. My car will get cool in about 10 min after being heat soaked in the sun, and I can move the blower to level 2 before that 10 min is up. It will stay comfy for the rest of the day on a long drive too.
If you have an engine driven compressor, and don't mind the compressor in the engine back still being there, I would run the Classic Retrofit system with your engine driven compressor. The key to their system is that is moves FAR MORE air than the original ones did, and it's a more compact system (evaporator in the blower, with 1 blower, etc). Going down the road the engine driven compressor has a lot more BTU's of capacity than the electric compressors (CR's or others). So it can cool the car faster. The downside to this kind of setup...the compressor in the engine bay (not as clean to some people), and at idle the performance suffers. Of course in my 2013 Panamera the A/C struggles at idle when the car is heat soaked too, because there's not enough refrigerant flow. If the RPM is above about 1,300, it works like a champ. At idle my CR system in my Rat Rod does very well, as I let the compressor pull up to 90 amps at idle (I have the big alternators and 2 condensers). Remember that his electric compressor saves weight, hose lengths, and enables cars with no A/C compressor at all to run A/C.
I didn't have an A/C of any kind in my 964 powered 1975 Rat Rod, so I went all electric. If I were putting the CR system into my 89 3.2, I would leverage the engine driven stock compressor for sure. Just something to remember.
That said I am very happy with my setup. Now if I could just get my cars body work finished so I can drive it again (complete floor and rocker replacement thanks to rust).
