Fan Shroud Crack: Keep or Replace?

Just pulled the fan assembly to replace the alternator. Upon pulling the fan and housing I noticed cracks in the housing. I also noticed a spot where the fan is rubbing the housing. I assume what happened is that the housing shifted when removed because of the cracks. Does this need replacement? I think I know the answer here but want to confirm…

Also, assuming replacement, there are many options:
Rennline Billet
Aftermarket aluminum
LN Engineering Billet
Carpoint
FVD Magnesium

Anything to avoid? Any preferences?

Fan housing, not fan shroud.

I would replace

That's some cracking!

I would replace with your choice which fits budget. New is probably not much more than penetrant inspection (Zyglo) to find more cracks, weld repair and coating to cover the repairs. Plus, it adds peace of mind.

I replaced mine with aluminum aftermarket, housing and fan. No problems and no worries about mag cracking, Looks better too.

Too far gone, just replace it.

I was not comfortable with the cracking in my housing and replaced it with the genuine Porsche (magnesium) housing. The fitment was not great, requiring a fair amount of honing in order to get the fan to spin freely in the housing.

Extremely deep corrosion. The only choice is which replacement to buy. What does the fan look like?

I recently found crack in my housing and replaced it, my thread has details on all the replacement sources I could find:

Fan is in good shape, just dirty. Planning to have it powder coated.
