WUR 80sc ?
Hi all,
Why did 1980 911sc US model get some 0438 140 089 and some get 0438 140 072? Thanks, Khuong |

0438 140 089 = ROW SC (with vent connection)
0438 140 072 = US SC (no vent connection) / Engine with lambda control

I don't know which of the WURs is present in your car and even then, you only know the Model/year where that WUR belongs to.
To know what type of engine you got, you should check the engine code, on the engine near the right side of the fan housing: https://www.stuttcars.com/porsche-911-1965-1989-vin-numbers/#google_vignette

WUR Application…..……

Andrew, Both WUR-072 and WUR-089 have vent connections. WUR-072 is non-vacuum assisted and for lambda/OXS motors while WUR-089 is a vacuum assisted and for non-lambda/OXS motors. Another difference between these 2 WUR’s is the heater configuration. WUR-072 has a compound heater set-up while WUR-089 has a single heater. And they operate differently. FYI. Tony |

Does it still have lambda (O2 sensor) connected? Someone probably disabled the lambda system and swapped the 072 for an 089.

@80 TargaSC
In a nutshell: An ROW (non lambda engine) WUR-089 needs at its vacuum port a higher manifold vacuum to be present so it provides a correct control fuel pressure at normal load/driving. At high load, means accelerating, the manifold vacuum at the WUR port drops which lets the WUR drop the control pressure as well, so the mixture will be enriched. Now in your case with a lambda based engine model, as no manifold vacuum hose to the WUR exists, the 089 WUR always sets the control pressure to lower spec and your engine is driving too rich. Additionally ... with your lambda system ..., when engine is cold running or when you accelerate you get an additional enrichment by the ECU! You see why its one of the worst things driving with a non proper WUR. I recommend checking your whole system ... follow this workshop and your engine will drive like charm: https://nineelevenheaven.wordpress.com/the-911-sc-3-0-engine-with-catalyst-and-lambda-control/

in a 1980 model with ECU? Thats weird.
You don't confuse the vent hose with the vacuum hose? IF really a "vacuum" hose is connected to your 089 WUR, then it would be good to know from which source this vacuum has ben taken, as its not the concept of this particular CIS design.

The vent on the top of WUR has no connection and the source of the vacuum came from The back of TB and a T connected to Decel valve. Thank, Khuong Last edited by 80TargaSC; 10-26-2024 at 12:43 PM.. |

Hi Guys, I have a October 1979 RoW (Therefore 1980 model) and it has a 069 WUR. I am pretty sure it is correct one for the car.

But ... this combination is still not compatible with the ECU concept, as ... if you accelerate then the mixture will be enriched two times, ... by the WUR and by the ECU at the same time. So .... get yourself the correct WUR :-)
