FWIW, friends don't let friends put bras on their cars.

Well $60K exterior work and already a chip on the bumper I rather protect the paint. Plus already ordered one on ebay and it was the wrong one! I didn't pay the $60K took the car in to have a little split in the dash fixed and some shop dropped a ladder filled some type of something that hit the car and splattered green dots all over the paint and the insurance did a complete exterior restoration on the car. So might as well protect the paint.

Bra can cause the paint to be damaged under the bra. If you are concerned about rock chips, go with a quality clear bra. Much less likely to damage your paint and you do not have the silly (IMHO) bra look.

i like the clear skin on the front hood but remember it is good to be different and the bra is a retro;-)I have one which comes in 2 pieces..the triangle slides over the hood(can be used separately) and the rest over the fenders and bumper
It would not do any harm to your hood unless you leave it on in the rain or longer on the sun...very simple

ivan
how was it that the one you have does not fit? any pictures?

I already have a clear coat on the front of the hood, so I was looking to protect the bumper and maybe the spoiler area. What are you asking for the bra? I was thinking of just doing the clear coat on the bumper as well, but wanted to look into the bra for the bumper area. The shop who did the work on the car had it stored and used a tow truck to move it to their pick up area also cracked the spoiler. I did not want to argue with them just took the car and I have someone to fix that and the pretty big chip for $100 or so. After it is fixed I will either have the bumper clear coated or a bumper bra. The cover is not even close looks like someone shoved a different cover into a Porsche box and the seller has no returns. I will take a few pictures

Thanks

Sam

Sam:

Please post a picture of why you have. There are several styles of bras.

you said the paint was “clear coated”. This is not the same as a “clear bra”.

A clear coat is a layer of colorless paint that is put over the color base coat to give it a shine. It offerers minimal, if any, chip resistance.

A clear bra is a clear resilient plastic coating that will deflect rocks etc and prevent the paint from chipping.

The "bra" does more damage than it prevents. Just saying....

.
I've used Colgan Bras on the fronts and mirrors of my older original paint Porsches successfully for years.
I was always leery of sticking a piece of plastic on them for fear of the results when and if the plastic film was removed or what it looked like when it aged. AND, I could never find anyone who could give me a straight answer to make me feel comfortable to those results.
It sounds like you're particular about trying to maintain the fresh paint look but be aware;
- The biggest enemy of bras is DIRT. If the bottom side of the bra or the surface you are trying to protect is not clean it will scratch.
- Avoid getting it wet. Wet attracts dirt.
- You can't leave it on forever without keeping the paint surface it is protecting clean.
- Treat it like you would a microfiber towel.
- Be sure your paint is cured before using any type of bra, including clear ones.
.
If you're OK with the retro-look of a bra go for it. For the difference in price, give consideration to new one versus a used one unless you're sure of its past history! Good luck on your decision.

Agree and they’re so 1980. Throw some 3m clear over the bumper et. Better looking, better protection and cheaper.

What I had done was a clear film sheet over the front part of the hood and near the head lights I believe its called XPEL

If you have Xpel, that is a type of clear bra. No ugly 80’s bra is needed.

That is a Service Cover not a Front Bra. Never seen one with left and right hard pads like the one you have pictured.

Our host sells them; https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/BE002BC.htm?pn=BE002BC&ByPassCat=Y
