Porsche Crest Pedal box upgrades

Hi All,

I am rebuilding a 1973 911 with a 1976 2.7L motor. This is not a stock rebuild due to the parts I have to replace a I am building. I am trying to make modern upgrades wherever I can.

I have the original pedal box and have rebuilt it will all new bushings and springs. I need new clutch and throttle cables run through the tunnel.

Does anyone have thoughts on the pedal box. Are there newer technology pedal boxes that I can use ?

I know there is a drive by wire pedal from the 80's for the throttle. I wanted to know if I could replace, brake, clutch and throttle into a new set up ??

Thoughts

not really

you have a 19mm non-boosted m/c, from '77 they changed to a 20.6mm boosted m/c, it's not a simple bolt on to change from yours to that.

you could install a dual master setup, but the main reason to do so is some sort of brake bias issue w/ non std. brakes

drive by wire didn't come along until around 2000, new air-cooled 911s were history at that point

I made a dual brake master cylinder with hydraulic clutch master cylinder for a G-50 for early 911, 930's. So 3 master cylinders under the floor board, and even added a Accelerator Pedal Position sensor for drive by wire.

Everything fits under the factory floor board and carpet.

the 3rd m/c is only for a hydraulic clutch not needed in a '72
DBW requires an engine management system that supports it, again not something typically seen in a '72

and lastly unless there is an oddball non std brake setup, why bother

here's a typical twin master setup for a pre '87 911

thanks guys. Seems like the easiest thing to do is stick with the original pedal cluster. There's not a lot of room in the early 911's for upgrades. I was just thinking there was a modern upgrade that would be simpler and drive better.
