RS America Sport Seat cloth
Does anyone know a supplier for RS America Sport seat cloth? I have a 1989 Targa with Sport seats and have been thinking about reupholtering with this seat cloth.

Sport seat cloth
Ya I have heard that. We live in Orlando FL where it gets HOT and I was just thinking this might be a good alternative in that regard.

I disagree with John, we have an RS America that we have 170,000 miles on. We think the seats are among the most comfortable Porsche seats.

I have cloth seats in my Carrera and would never go back to leather. Not the same material as the RSA seats, but you get the drift. - Matt

I'm seriously considering cloth for my car when I reupholster it. To me, it's a better all around material for car seats, just about every way.

I can't wait to ditch my leather seats. The cloth on Alcantara in my fiance's ZHP are simply perfect despite the 130k miles on them.

I did a grey/black houndstooth out of mid 80's BMW in my 964 sport seats....divine. Ties the slate grey exterior to the grey dash and soon black carpet

^wow, that looks incredible.
I'm always cloth/suede/alcantara > leather.

I used to have those seats in my '85 Carrera. I agree that it feels "tacky" and too sticky. If you can find the material, I would personally use the Porsche script fabric they used on the 924S. That is unless you are trying for a correct restoration.

Try contacting Recaro? The cloth on the RS America seats is the same that the Recaro SRD/Speed uses. Its woven nature is a bit tough to keep clean but it is really durable. And don't ever let a cat near them. Cat hair is a bear to remove. You have to pick it out hair by hair.
I agree the RS America seat is arguably one of the best seats Porsche has put in the 911. I had a pair in my '87 and they were fantastic.

![]() Wise man, I love my houndstooth. I considered the RSA fabric as well as corduroy. I think it provides great grip and is good in hot weather.....not to mention looks.

I just sent an email to Stefan. I will let you know what he says. I have the same issue as the original poster. My RSA is 100% original and I would like to keep it that way.

There is a place in New Zealand that sells a few of the original porsche fabrics. I'm not sure if they have the RSA fabric as well, but it is probably worth a shot.

Oh sh it. Excuse me, but this is the guy that got me my 911SC seat vinyl. We discussed at depth that it was supply only etc then when the stuff arrived he was all "No speak English, I not supply for someone else to do the work.." So watch this guy. |

I'm not sure I follow you... he wouldn't sell you the material unless he was the one sewing the upholstery also?

I am resurrecting this old thread because I am still looking for the fabric after 10 years!!! All four of my seats (yes, it’s a ‘94) need doing. It was originally from Florida and Texas so the fabric is sunburned. Dash already replaced!
What is the closest thing anyone has found for fabric? It is beyond a “need” now. It’s kind of the last piece of the puzzle to have my car looking nice. Mechanical is all done except the climate control module. |

Southbound trimmers in the UK officially refer to this fabric as Recaro "B80 Sport Cloth".
They provided a sample when I was looking to have my 968 Clubsport Recaro seats recovered. See pricelist below: https://www.southboundtrimmers.com/files/Trade%20Pricelist%202024.pdf Can't tell for certain, but it also looks very similar to the Recaro "Avus" fabric listed here: |
