Radio repair?
Does anyone know of a place that repairs recent vintage (2008) radios?
I'm sort of looking for the radio equivalent of North Hollywood Speedometer. I have the radio out, so it's easy to ship. I'd just like to find a reputable place so I can be sure I'll get it back

Just as a last ditch effort, I'm bubbling this to the top before I conclude that radios don't get repaired.
Anybody? |

Radio repair is definitely a dying industry. Radioman is local to me and I dealt with him in person. He fixed my 70s Frankfurt. Excellent service. He definitely does newer radios too, saw quite a few in his shop while I was there. He keeps pretty short hours in the shop so call back if you don't get an answer at first.
He had a radio out of a gullwing Mercedes in there from Germany when I dropped mine off. |

Just wanted to update this thread as a reference as I recently purchased a Reno SQR46 through the classifieds and needed the balance control repaired.
I sent it to Radioman (Mr. John Merutka) in San Diego for evaluation; it arrived on a Thursday and he was able to repair both the balance control and the tape player and have back on my doorstep Thursday of the following week. The balance control is NLA but fortunately he has a collection of parts radios for these circumstances. http://www.radiomanrepair.com/ No affiliation whatsoever, I found his name searching the forum and wanted to update with my experience, hopefully this helps someone else in the future. |
