911 SC fuel pump bracket fitment

So I pulled the skid plate covering the fuel pump on my 1982 SC to start diagnosing a small fuel leak. I found my fuel pump secured by a zip tie.

I’d like to utilize a more durable setup and researched the factory bracket (#23) assembly. The cross member on my car only has one oval shaped hole near the fuel pump location and centered top to bottom of the cross member. There are no other holes for mounting. The factory bracket appears to have two mounting points with rubber isolators (#24). What I can’t tell is if this is designed to provided options or is it necessary to use both mounting points on the bracket?

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Thanks,

Will

Half joking but a more durable option may just be… two zip ties?

(Or a hose clamp as per the poster above me)

Thank you both. I guess what I’m trying to figure out is how the bracket in EMac’s picture (or similar for the SC) mounts to the cross member.

A picture of yours with the pump out of the way may be helpful.

I think the the rubber bushings are mounted to the crossmember and the bracket has two bolts that hold the bracket to the rubber bushings. The rubber bushing has threads on both ends for bolts. HTH, its been a while since I was in mine. I guess mine (88) could be different.

I wish I would have snapped a couple of pics with the pump removed. I see what you mean about having only one hole in your x member. I just cant tell if I have one or two mounting bolts.

I find it interesting that #26 and #27 are different part #'s. What is #28? Is it possible different years required different mounting hardware? I haven't looked at the parts diagrams, just what you posted, so maybe the actual parts descriptions may help. Wish I could help more.

FWIW, when I zoom in on pictures I have, it "seems" like there is only one mount.

Hey. Not certain if this photo is of any help. I replaced the two, round rubber isolators with new a few years ago. It looks like the one in the photo is attached to a small bracket hanging off the sheet metal body while the other one attaches to the front crossmember. It was a bit aggravating to do the little job, but it all went back together.
Thx, Patrick

Remember those isolators and the rubber around the pump help reduce fuel pump noise....they are worth it.

Ding-ding! That makes sense as to why the bolt part numbers are different! Thanks, I can rest now.

911 SC fuel pump bracket fitment

So I went out a poked around more. There are indeed two mounting points. One on the cross member (hole by zip tie) and one on a sheet metal support.
