SWB suspension questions & advice wanted

Has anyone changed from the early strut top to the later adjustable strut top on any early SWB car? if yes, other than the sheet metal and strut top, what parts are required?

Any front or rear SWB suspension recommendations would be great, I'm wanting a period correct hot rod that handles & brakes as well as possible, I'm not doing a concours restoration
Thanks

I don't know the answer to your question for sure, but you should be able to swap the strut top without other changes. In my experience, the changes to the chassis across the SWB are pretty subtle. You could ask the question on early911sregistry.org to increase the eyes on the question. Another thing you can do is try to figure out what modifications the cars in the 2.0L Cup Series are running.

Like this 65 that has the later strut tops.

Then this one shows the old tower.

I am a fan of the 2.0L cup series and these cars have been an inspiration for my own car. Sounds like it could be a good guide for your build as well.

Changing the strut top to the later style limits the amount of caster you can get. Is there a reason you want to switch that part specifically? I just finished swapping my entire front suspension for a later setup with ER bushings, turbo tie rods, aluminum cross member, etc. and reused the early tops just fine. Fit perfectly with the later struts.
