Info about a 2002 Targa for sale in MA?

Hi, newbie here and don’t own a porsche yet, but looking to join! I’ve been super interested for some unknown reason and probably price point as well on a 911 996. I know the 996 carry their own unique problems, IMS, bore scoring, etc. I was told by a member and long time porsche owner to check here and see if anyone knows about the car. It’s currently for sale at FC Auto Sales in Massachusetts. It’s a 2002 grey Targa 6-speed with about 116k. The reason why I’m asking is because it’s gone thru 5 owners and currently being sold as a 3rd party. Some might say, why the Targa, and I would say I don’t know, it’s cool and unique? For a while I was looking at C4S 996 but those seem to be out of my price range…

If the car comes with good maintenance records and receipts indicating proper care I’d continue looking at it for the right price. A proper IMS bearing overhaul would be a nice bonus. If not I’d continue looking. I really like the Targa’s. I agree they are cool and multipurpose.

By the looks on carfax it seems like it, it’s on its 5th owner, so might be hard to get some of that paperwork I’m assuming. But thank you, I appreciate it - my wife not so much! haha

look for asymmetrical smoke on start up for note score issue.
None great
One side = nope
Both= serious engine analysis ppi for proper analysis.

At rising values, it’s still the cheapest 911 but a bad one will have you $ upside down quick.
