964/993 distributor rebuild issue
 

So I’ve done a handful of these in the past and this is the first time I’m running into this issue.

I just had two distributors apart to replace belts. Got everything assembled and ready to put the gear on bottom and pin…

When they came apart there was two shims and a washer before the gear on both…

After new belt and assembly I can not get the gear/shaft hole to line up unless I remove both the shims.

I have taken these both apart now two times and verified everything inside is correct what would have changed that this no longer lines up
