Which alternator for 1972T

I'm planning on replacing my original marchel alternator on my 72 911. Which one is direct replacement using original external regulator and direct wiring plug and play.

If you are interested, I have an internally regulated alternator from my 1973 which should work for you.

Why, is your old one kapoot? If it's on its last leg, check around your area as there might be a shop nearby that will rebuild it. Or Harry will hook you up.

Some are of the opinion the early system with the seperate voltage regulator is better, as it’s not exposed to heat and breakdown. I rebuilt mine (bearings and new carbon bushes) and had the regulator tuned (they drift up & could boil your battery). I’d suggest keeping original if possible.

Yes that's my intention to keep it OE since it lasted this long. I owned this car since 1985!

I have always had great success with a local auto electric shop. Usually Bearings, brushes, and diodes, all cheap, and you are ready for an other 50 years. Take your VR with you a they can often check it out. Rob
