mechanic in DC?
I will be moving soon to DC after a lengthy stay in Boston. Switching to the Potomac region etc etc. Does anyone have any recommendations for a wrench in the greater DC area? Guess Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland are all options as well. Thanks.

If you're moving to northern Virginia (NoVA), try Auto Sportsystems Group (ASG) or Dulles International Motorsport. You should also check out our very active DiY scene...lots of great people that will lend you a hand when you tackle a project.
FYI - here's a link to the local forum for the NoVA/DC/MD area. http://www.dorkiphus.com/porsche/

I am going to be literally living in the city. The area is in between Thomas and Scott circles. What gives me the shivers is the type of apt building where it will be very inconvenient, if not looked down upon, to do any sort of DIY. That may be the best offer that I've head in a while. Looking forward to meeting all you guys.

I have used IMA Motorsports in Fairfax for a couple of projects and have been pleased with the results. However, I have not done many price comparisons with other shopts yet. Welcome to the area!

Of course, we will have to schedule an engine drop immediatly after you arrive.
I had the same question when I moved here and went to PoA first (gasp...more stories to be told in person) and then was referred to ASG (Taylor Chapman specifically). I am having some significant work done next week and can let you know how it goes.

I like Autosport Systems Group on Fairfax, VA.
Very thorough and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Can take a few weeks to get the car in there at times though. Keith Lambert Waterford, VA

Dave - welcome. Get on the local board that Jim references above and introduce yourself to the gang - you'll find out everything you need to know about the area there.

Doug E,
Thanks for the invite. Will do that for sure. As far as the engine drop....since it's a new job dragging me down there, I'm having an expectation of more $ as well as a 3.0 "implant" to come out of this.
