Not a 935 per se, just the 935's father.....from this thread: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/529768-first-turbo-racer-gone.html

Wholly remarkable story. had not known this until just reading it now. He was a winner in every car, class, series he raced in: NASCAR , INDY, IMSA GTP. etc..True talent. Moreover, and notwithstanding the incredible life circumstances; in fact JP Sr disappeared and still has not been found....

Has this car raced at Pacific Raceways in Seattle? I think I've seen this car at the historic races. I remember the car number, #79.

What rear tires/wheels are current 935 owners using now that the original sizes used by those cars (e.g. 350/700 R19) are no longer made. Appreciate it if any 935 owners (like VZ935, etc.) would be able to shed some light on the issue. Thanks.

Hopefully Van will chime in (hi Van!).
I have seen some of the cars run Avon Bias Ply tires. I think I have seen others run Hoosiers but I cannot remember whether those were radials or bias plys. I will check some photos of Nearburg's 935 I took at an RR at Laguna. Roger Kraus and his son are old friends and their biz is about 20 min from where I live. I think that they still sell Hoosier and Avon. See below for Avon:

Hey Mahler, thanks! I guess that means 935 owners aren't running 19 inch rears anymore. Funny, when I see current 935 track videos, the rears really look larger than 16's and it's noticeable because the fronts on the cars are 16's. I was curious if they found a way to make 18's work in the back because Avon & Goodyear both have 365/720 R18 (28.5x14.5 R18) slicks that would theoretically work but are very tall. Not sure if they could get 18" rim halves that would bolt up to their centerlock centers. Appreciate the response!

Somewhere in my photo library I have some relatively recent pix of some 935 and 917 cars from RR events and from Canepa.
Further back in time... Sometime just after the turn of the century and before 2010 I was visiting with Jerry Woods and the folks at Jerry Woods Enterprises/Motorsports. It was late Fall. They were "packing up" several cars they had been working on for the late Matt Drendel. The truck driver was waiting and they were undertaking final steps. IIRC one of the cars was a Coca Cola-liveried 962. One was a 935 in the blue Garretson-Barbour livery. That car was stunning. I noticed that the car had some Goodyear 19's. Those tires were some old stock they had on hand. Suitable for rolling around and display. Not driving.

A new 935(or GT2?) is being worked on at Los Angeles Porsche Experience Center PEC.

Mpeastend We used to run Goodyear bias ply all the way around 16x11&12 up front and 16x14 in the rear. A lot of people are now running 18's like we have on the MOMO 935 The favored tire these days is a bias ply Avon. My understanding was Kraus was working on reproducing a 19" for the rear. I converted one of my 935's to a street car and the only tire available with a 16" and 19" is a Hosier dot tire. Had to narrow the rear 19"wheels to 13" wide though.

Yes it has. I sold it to the guy in Seattle then I got the car back. I took this from the top of the transporter when I took two of my 935s to Daytona for the 935 Challenge. The white 79 on the right and the black 69 next to it.

VZ935- Thanks Van! Appreciate the info straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Thanks for keeping those works of art rolling so that people can still experience them!

Did a google search for Daytona 935 Challenge , as i had never heard of it. This article from R&T popped up. Some really excellent images of 935s driven in anger seemingly at the zenith of their power...late 70s-early 80s before the group C cars took over.. likely a few owned by Van at some point...
