Great piece.
I love the description of the interior: "I am clearly the exception. I'm hellishly uncomfortable, full-faced helmeted head kinked to one side to clear the little ridge directly over my head where the door meets the roof. The door cuts into the roof to help driver access. Around me the tubework and glassfibre inner panels are an ugly shade of army grey, badly painted, as if by a loo brush. The glassfibre is obviously weak and ageing. 'Don't lean on anything,' warns Finburgh. 'It's all fourth-grade plastic and will probably break. They built these cars to go fast. Nothing else mattered.' "

Nice article, havent read that one before. I bet it was an amazing sight for the 356 driver.
Goodwood 2003 Just as I was taking that picture there was an announcement reminding people not to smoke in the paddocks. |
