I second the Mayo's suggestion. With a more specific location, I can reccomend other shops, also.

Zims is on the North side near the airport I believe. There is also a real good shop somewhere off the North Dallas Parkway tollroad that I think is called Loudens

Mayo Performance.

Tell us more about the car. Where is it? What year? If it is close to downtown Dallas, I can take a look at it and tell you what it really looks like before getting a PPI. Sometimes pictures can be deceiving.

Mayos is good for early cars. But there is also Zims, Loudens, 911 Enterprises and several others depending on the area of DFW your in.

I think there is a place called Autothority (?) in Addison which has a good rep. The PO of my 88 had a lot of service work done there. Can't argue with Loudens or Dallas Eurocar, ask for Jim.

If it's the shop on Regal Rd, I'd be leary. I stopped in and talked to them one day and did not get good vibes.

If it's a 993, don't take it to some shop that specializes in early cars. 993's do not have the same issues as earlier 911's....well, except for the driver's side door stay. They can have rust issues, but in different areas. Few places have the super expensive factory tool for checking fault codes and cycling all systems. That's how I had my V-ram checked a few weeks ago. A check engine light can be nothing and it can also be a near death sentence. Find someone who knows 993's.

If It's at the Tollway and Frankfort take it to Boardwalk Porsche,
one exit up on Plano Pkwy. I bet thats where the Maintenance
was performed. Ask for "Cliff" he's the shop foreman.

Sam, the guy I spoke with said he had the equipment to get the engine codes, etc. Not sure whether this includes compression check...

There's a new shop near my house in Highlanc Village- Fifth Gear Motorsports. The two partners have been dealer wrenches for over 20 years. They seem to have a LOT of customers follow them. I've seen two GT3 Cup cars in the shop too for race setup. Might be worth checking into. They're having a grand opening party tomorrow from 2-6pm.
