Ventilation Control Panel

can someone provide some insights...do i have to remove everything in the funck to access the control panel..i am trying to determine why it is lose in the dash and hate to pull everything apart if i dont need to. One manual states I can access bolts from under the dash?

Anyone with experience in this area,,please throw me your 2 cents worth of advice

I’m following this as every time I slide the levers, the entire panel pushes out from the dash.

same problem! seems there might be a 10MM bolt accessible fro underneath but I dont have the car here to test that theory..besides..its -20 out there. Jac..if you determine thats the fix...you ll have to go upside down with head in foot well..remove ashtray and see if yu can spot the one bolt going into a capture nut that may tighten the unit. I ve seen a photo where there was also a rubber spacer so not sure what to expect..maybe experts will chime in?

I this thread there is a pic of the body of the ventilation control mechanism. It goes into the dash about five or six inches. What you can't see from the picture(s) is that the very rear of this mechanism has a bent sheet metal tab with a hole in it which engages with a fastenet. 10mm? This is a very secure way to mount this. If your fastener is loose, there is your problem. If not, then I don't know.

See the circled bolt below. That's what you're looking for.

You can't move the control panel with the bolt in place. You are going to have to get under there with a flashlight and a wrench, and see if that thing is snug. You can probably find it with your hand, even before you get your head under there.
