show me your 77 911 colors.

Looking for original 77 colors. Am leaning towards continental orange but I figure I should check around before doing anything i have to live with for years to come.

Thanks,

David

1. What color is your interior?

2. What is the original color of exterior?

3. I've read/heard that the darker the color, harder is is to pull off a good re-paint.

4. I had an orange van once, painted tiger stripes on it - really I did.

5. I think silver may be the most sought after color, as it's Germany's racing color (Green-British, Red-Italy and so forth).

Interior is black. The car was originally silver. It was slate blue (I think) before I stripped the car to the metal. Since I am doing 99% myself, I will be doing a lighter color.

Thanks for the pictures guys,

David

Here's my Peru Red Targa. I don't see many this color. Interior is cork and black.

I would for sure look into Metalic Silver the color I have, as it may of been the cars original color. Perhaps there are some issues working with metalics that might limit your choices.

For my own whimsy I like some of the rarer VW and Audi colors. That frosty light green by VW would probably scare more people off than orange, and the medium blue/violet by Audi would have traditionalist saying WTF.

the pic was taken with maybe 10k mi of road dirt on it. It's a copper brown with gold metalic. It's low key on the road and doesn't get a second look.

Jbabic, do you think that Aquamarine/SeaFoam Boster at the end is a stock color?

There is one color I like, but don't see very often, and never seen in person for at least 20 years. It's a pale yellow/orange from the early 1970's. If you can't decide on Orange, and like Yellow, you might want to look into it.

It would be more yellow than the 996 below.

Yeah, I don't know if it was a '77 colour, but it was definitely a '76 colour.

I have owned my quota of orange cars/trucks in my life, but love that "Talbot Yellow".

Thanks for droping the color name on me.

It looks great with that black trim. On my screen it's looks much oranger than I recall. I'm thinking that when it fades from age it lighten ups and the yellow becomes more dominate than the orange.

If 1976 was the last year (which I think you were right about Adam), then was the first year 1972?

It's kind of similar color to the big fast back Mustang/Boss/Mach-1's of the same era, those were cool looking too.

That paint's only around 2 years old. It just changes colour, depending on the ambient light and the type of camera you use. The two above were taken by a friend on an overcast day with a 35mm SLR and this one below with my digital camera in bright sun.

I think it is definitely a "real" Porsche color ... Mint-something? I think it was a 964 or 993 color.

And, here's Ice Green Metallic -- special order color 1974-1977. This is a respray but according to a well-respected Porsche shop it's "a close match to the original."

My '69 E was Bahama Yellow, a color that took several years to get used to but is now my favorite Porsche color. If I ever get my current Carrera repainted Bahama is my first choice. I don't know if Porsche used Bahama in the 70's. Grady?
