ITB air filters
What are the various options for air cleaners on an ITB (Individual Throttle Body) equipped car?
Plus, are they required? Probably, but they look -so- nice without them! Note the three photos below. 1. Full air cleaner 2. "Mesh" covers 3. None Any info? -Steve http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094255436.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094255449.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1094255468.jpg |
What's an "ITB equipment car"?
As far as air filtration, the three cars exhibit these characteristics black car: ITG foam filters. Air is filtered orange car: Screen. Leaves, large pebbles are filtered; better than nothing yellow car: No air filtration. Set up for show. If it's a question of what type to use, something along the lines of the factory or ITG filter is suggested (even K&N). There is hardly any additional power gain from removing the air filter and plenty of potential drawbacks. They mostly center around ingesting non-compressible objects into the engine for immediate "wear" and gradual, but accelerated wear in long-term use. http://www.itgairfilters.com/megaflow_multi.asp Sherwood no affiliation |
