Hahaha! No!! I don't think he did! I had stopped at one of those "service centers" on the turnpike (Cheesequake?!??) and pulled up to the pump. Being short on time trying to get back to the airport, I hopped out and stuck my credit card in the card reader.

This guy comes running up and says - with a "Taliban" kind of accent: "Pump stopped!!".

Barely understanding him, I replied that I was trying to pay with a credit card, but the pump wasn't working. He said again, "Pump stopped! Shift change!"

I said, "Oh do I have to wait or something before I can swipe my card?"

He was getting obviously annoyed at this point and yelled, "You cannot pump gas! Get back in car!".

Then I realized that I was the only one not sitting in my car. :>)

I just tell them that you have to hold it the whole time. Since they are too lazy to do so they let me pump my own gas with no problems, works everytime.

New Jersey...Remember that you smell Secaucus before you get to Secaucus.

Wait to you try to get insurance quotes......

Welcome to Jersey! I moved here a bunch of years ago and have really grown to love it...Newark, Kearny, Union city, etc really give the state a bad rep, come out west a bit and you'll find quite a beautiful state.

Anyway, we're doing a NJ/NY/CT gathering and blasting up the Palisades on October 16th, you can find the thread under my user name from around a month ago, if you're here you should join us, meet your new fellow Pelicans...

It's OK. It was pretty rural, but they're building it up so fast, it's getting more congested. Good schools, though.

I'm in the South (Philly suburb), so I just pay for all you New Yorkers, that's all.

My main gripe is auto insurance, with my property taxes a distant second. Although, for the miniscule slice of NJ that I 'own', I should probably complain more. One day I hope to escape to PA, or to the north (upstate NY).

Well its kind of a home coming for me. I was born in New Jersey and spent the first 6 years of my life there and have a lot of family so it should be fun.

I actually was in Jersey from 11th of July till yesterday. And I saw a lot of fun roads to hit with the 911 when I get there.

I'm right near route 130 & 33 and a hop skip and a jump from exit 7a on the turnpike.

Just for some feelers how much do you guys pay for insurance.

Do you take 611 all the way down to 202, and then head east into New Hope? If so, you've got to try 32. When you're heading south on 611 you'll reach Kintnersville. Just before the village, there's a stop sign (in front of a closed restaurabt on the left) where the road makes kind of a Y. 611 bears right, but if you bear left, that puts you on 32 south, which runs all the way to No Hope.

Also, you can get off 78 way before Easton and run cross country, on some very nice roads, to Milford. When you cross the Delaware at Milford, it puts you right on 32.

I actually don't pay much for insurance. I have liberty mutual on the regular cars & collector's insurance on the 911. I'm 31, single, and a homeowner.

Liberty Mutual
1999 Boxster, full coverage, $1k deductible - $850/year
1991 Camry, liability only (beater), $400ish/year

Parish Heacock
1977 911, $30k agreed value, full coverage, no DE coverage, $350/yr

32 is pretty, but inevitably there's someone slow bogging you down. The roads thru Hunterdon on the Jersey side are as nice or nicer, only problem is local Pa cops aren't allowed radar, while the Jersey cops are.

True about 32, it can be pretty frustrating. Hunterdon's not bad though, since theres a lot of miles of fun roads, and not a lot of constabulary to cover them

Dan at carsinc in Bordentown does not repair other peoples cars but he has almost any used part you could ever need. Bordentown is only about 5 miles from Trenton. He has a website and can be reached at 609-298-2277. He is more than willing to give good advice also.

Awesome roads

I live in Bucks County, across the Delaware river from Trenton and can vouch for the specular roads north of Trenton - Mercer, Hunderdon Countys have windy, up and down back roads perfectly for designed for he 911. Weather is good into October but November, Dec., Jan and Feb hopefully you'll have a nice heated garage and a list of projects to be preformed. The weather these months stink. As an avid bicyclist I have lot's of cue sheets available that make for awesome driving roads. Let me know if you want any.

Just wait till you try to make a left turn and find out that you need to make a right to go left. They call them "jug handles", what is up with that?

I can't stand jug handles. the most retarded thing ever!!!

Who came up with the idea that to make a left you have to go right first.

When I first moved to NJ everyone used to blast the State Troopers (per that Dan Akroyd movie) but I can honestly say that once I changed my attitude to a respectful one they have cut me some HUGE breaks ..examples :- 115+mph in a 65 = $48 fine
95+mph in a 65 = $48 fine
90+mph in 55 = $140 fine + 2 points (local)
and the list goes on....are ticket quotas and revenue generation a factor ? ,sure but so far courtesy and respect have gotten me a lot more than nonchalance and b.s. The insurance premiums for cars are not bad ,bikes however cost a fortune compared to P.A..... There are some awesome roads but everyone and their mother knows about them and squid them up on weekends (that's when you'll see revenue generation !!) .Also ,one word to the wise ,LO-JACK ,we in the Garden State have to deal with those low life scum who would rather steal something nice than work for it.....hence the two Rottweilers in my sig. (used to live in J.C. with a desirable GSXR 750)....All in all it's a good place to live but I would rather be in C.A. if I had a choice (N.J. winters are harsh)....welcome.
