Has anyone used European headers? Are these the same units as the ones reffered to as made by George?
I'd like to use them on my 3.2.
Any pics would be gretly appreciated.
TIA

Yes, European Racing Headers by George are made by George Narbel. He is located in Laguna Niguel, CA.

We used them extensively for track cars at Andial when I was employed there. My friend has them on his 3.4L twin-plug Motronic (1 5/8" diameter) and they seem to work very well. Bear in mind that they are not flashy, they are just mild steel but they get the job done.

I will be using them on my 3.5L twin-plug Motronic motor that I am in the middle of. I am picking mine up in about 3 weeks, if no one has a picture of them new I can take some and send them at that time.

Ralph

EDIT: Actually, I am going over to his shop in an hour to work on my motor. I will try and take a couple of pictures from underneath the car for you and post them later tonight.

No kidding, how long ago was this? Man, his shop was 15 minutes from my house, I was going to go over there and pick up the headers. I guess that's what UPS is for.

Maybe a year or so? I think the overhead is alot cheaper for him there. He ships quickly and will still get you your stuff, but for sure it isn't going to be as convenient as it was if he was a mile away from you. Give him a call. Great guy.

Yes, he is a great guy. Doesn't surprise me, the tax breaks for a small business are much better in Nevada than California. South Orange County is also pretty affluent, his rent must not have been cheap either, even though his shop was tucked away in the corner of a small business park.

jpahemi, here are some pics of my buddie's headers. They are not great and you can't see all that much, I took them on my belly.

Hi Ralph,

Noticed that you need extensions to use these headers. Is that right? or can they just bolt direct to a 2 in muffler?

Thks

Yes, you need extensions to run with a dual in street type muffler. I believe you just tell George what your muffler/megaphone set-up will be and he takes care of it. I'm not sure but I think the extensions are included with the price of the headers. I'll find out soon enough.

Last time I bought them, the S-pipe extensions were $90/pair when purchased separately, with an 02 bung welded in the left side (cheaper without it). If you are running megaphones, you don't need the adapters, so he usually quotes the price for the headers alone, but if you tell him you are running a stock muffler, he will set you up with everything you need.

how much are they?

ecm911 09-17-2004 12:24 PM

Guys,

George is a great guy. He spent a lot of time with me recently when I wa researching headers for my 3.0 Project. Had multiple phone to him and was very helpful- even after I told him I was buying a set of used headers- he still was very helpful.

Funny thing was the headers I got were a set of george's headers - we did not know this at the time. Again George was very helpful and I bought a set of extensions from him.

I will attach a pic below with just the headers installed after they were jet-hot coated.

Any idea on prices?

ecm911 09-17-2004 12:53 PM

Jmar,

I can share what I found during my recent research.

George's headers are sold at a few distributiors - DART , Paragon and others . All have the same price - If I remember for the 1 1.5 inch was around $500 plus shipping. This includes are gaskets and hardware ( bolts and copper nuts) and I think (not sure) the extensions are included. I prefered to deal directly with George, if you have any questions, do no hestiate to call him.

I was able to buy a used set for $250.

Jet-hot coating , recommended by George & others, cost about $300 for the headers and extensions. My turn around time was 3 weeks.

Hope this helps.

Earl

His 3 to 1 merge is closer to the heads than what I normally see. Is this a perfomance advantage?

The shorter the primary pipes are the higher in the rev range the power will be, usually for a 911 you are fighting to get longer primaries.
