Heres my first car. . . .i didnt buy it. i rebuilt it completely and then it was given to me. Maybe 1990 when i was in highschool. Stroked to 1.6, equal length hedders, 32/36 downdraft ona competition intake manifold. 13x6 wheels on Pirelli P7R rally tires. Jet black paint with 5 coats clear, body kit was skirts, roof spoiler and fiberglass fron bumper/airdam. Used this car for illegal rallys =) Heres my dad going for a spin. Not shown are the HUGE yellow rally lights that made night driving like day.

My first car is rather embarassing. A silver Plymouth Reliant. I would always park it far away from my girlfriends house so we would take her car (a Sunbird...not great, but better than mine!)

Wow, lot of us have VWs

My first was a VW bus..

Then a 78 Datsun King cab pick up, and a 64 VW Baja. Traded the Datsun for my first Porsche, a 924..

1976 Super Beetle Conv

Rolled out of a friend's driveway, about 100 yards, through some trees, over a boulder, and off a wall into a stream. A crane got it out, it never saw the road again.

1976 400 four Honda Super Sport w/yellow gas tank
(not really a car...) had it for 4 yrs in NYC

1971 Ford F 100 3 speed perfect except for all the rust. My brother gave it to me because I had missed the train from vt to ny. It had really loose steering and a hole in the manifold.
(not a car either...)

1964 VW Van with 1500 single port. Owned it for 7 years. Wanna learn how to work on cars? Own a VW. By design, you'll go broke from taking it to the shop and start wrenching on it yourself.

Sound familiar?

1975 f150 pick up truck with a piggy back camper on it. Dam thing would go a hundred with the camper on it. Going to college down the alley way. I hit a low tree, the front of the truck lifted up into the air. Then it came bouncing down. I kept going. A few miles down the road I noticed the truck had better pull then normal. Then realized the camper was gone. back tracked and there in he middle of road was a wrecked camper. Thought Dad would dis-own me when he saw it. Or beat me. When he saw it he just walked back to the house and never said anything. Boy was I lucky. A few swings with a sledge hammer and the bed was back in shape!

1979 Mazda RX-7. Everyone told me that I would regret getting a car with a rotary engine. I put 140K miles on the car and still sold in for a third of what I originally paid for the car. Great experience for a first car!

69 Plymouth RoadRunner. Purchased for $531 in 1975. 383 cu in with 335 hp. Wouldn't even start on less than premium fuel and got about 6 mpg. Wouldn't go around corners, but when you're 17, way too much fun to go fast in a straight line and show off, should have gotten a boat load of tickets, never did. Amazing. Sold it when I went to college for I think $1,000 and bought a german 73 Ford Capri, now serious corner fun.

My first sports car, fast in its day. 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider.
Not my pic but a good representation. Wish I still had it like we all say.

Hey Charlesbahn, I had a 1956 Jaguar XK140 MC roadster (OTS) with "C" Type engine and OD. I got it when I was 15 and it took me two years to put it together. I put ~250k miles on it and it never failed me.
Well it almost did once, when the SU fuel pump points broke. Lucky I had a friend with me. I jumpered the points and taped the bare wires to my friend's fingers. He had to keep tapping his fingers together to keep fuel pressure up. We went ~65 miles that way. His fingers were burned black from the arcing.

My older brother got a 63 triumph TR4, and proceeded to roll it. So I got a 72 Buick Skylark, 4 door with a brown vinyl top. Thanks brother.
