Save your money and just buy the Bentley manual. Between that, Wayne's books and this board, you will have all the information you need.

see the posts re getting scanned copies off of file sharing networks

search on masraum (I think)

it's too bad PAG doesn't sell CD's with the old manuals on them to us - they could make a lot of $$ and create some more brand loyalty

So far I haven't found any of the manuals for pre-71, '84-89, 996, or the 928. I have found all of the others, '72-83, 964, 993, boxster, 944, 968, and 914. I'm surprised the 3.2L cars manuals aren't around and the early cars. I have one manual that I am hoping to finish soon that I think could be a pre '71, just the engine manual, but I won't know until it's finished.

The Bentley should be pretty much all you need for the '84, but it won't cover the turbo. You may also want to get PET for the exploded diagrams. Apparently it is being sold at some US dealers and most overseas dealers now. You may also find bootleg copies online, but I think you would be better off getting the current version from a dealer.

Just purchased an Official PET CD from Suncoast Porsche and I asked when we could purchase the manual's on CD and he said unofficially it would be next year.

85Gold,

That's the best P-news I've heard in a while. My Dad and I were discussing this weekend how Porsche could sell tons of these manuals by slapping them on a CD and selling them for $100 or $200 per set. You know they have all the information, I'm sure it has paid for itself over and over by now. If they can continue to sell it by dropping the price, it's all profit at this point (except for printing costs).

I just finished downloading the ~118Mb version and I am so jealous of myself! I have always wanted these. My Dad had a 928 for 7 years in the '80s and he always wanted the manual for that one, but never could justify the price. Hey Porsche!!! if you do sell these on a CD, put me on the waiting list. I believe in the concept of copyright but disgree with many things about the current laws and I'm happy to buy it if I can (at the current asking prices I can't)

I've just been paging through it and the electrical diagrams are terrible. I know that high-res images of these diagrams are floating around. I have one for an SC somewhere on some computer. These can be made into PDFs and added into the document fairly easily, and I would be happy to do it. If anyone wants to post or email me good wiring diagrams for 73-83 cars I'll do it. I have the full version of Acrobat. Then a much better copy could be shared!
