Bert doesn't do that level of machine work himself.

Peter Dawe

You'd better put o Lojac on anything you give Peter Dawe. He took off with my blueprint Porsche engine for my Dune Buggy when he ran from creditors in Morristown, NJ.

I don't need to be anonymous! Anyone who sees him, just mention the post, he knows very well who he stole from. There's also an active warrant for him in Morris township, NJ for the theft.

I've used Dougerty's, Performance in Malvern, and Don Gailbraith - all great places.

Cyntex (Paul Schwarz) is excellent... Great prices, excellent workmanship. I have delt with both Cyntex and Dougherty, Dougherty is good, but their prices are on the high side. In fairness, for fab work, Bill Dougherty has an excellent fabricator on staff.... My current car was built by Dawe..The engine by Cyntex... 305hp from a 2.9 single plug, not to shabby.........

Kerry,
Wes Monteith @ MRP Restoration. http://www.monteithrp.com/ Fantastic mechanic. I have given his name to many and no complaints
He is the only reason I still own my 73 911. Well worth the call.

I have to back up David on this one. Wes Monteith has a beautiful facility and will spend a lot of time explaining anything you are curious about concerning your car. I've never felt more comfortable that my Porsches are in good hands as I do with Wes. He also seems very reasonable with his hourly rates and you feel good about what you actually get for your money. A few pix post rebuild

Here are a couple of pix of my freshly rebuilt 2.7. All work performed by Wes Monteith. I'm installing SSI heat exchangers and an M&K exhaust myself (currently waiting on the correct back dated oil lines). What a dream this thing is to work on after the rebuild. Wes did such fantastic work and the engine runs perfectly. I decided to do the upgrade to the exhaust system because I'm all about driving this car again and just had to hear it with the M&K.

Wouldn't hesitate to take it to Specialty Cars in Allentown.

Definite Porsche competency, from 356 Restorations to RSR competition re-builds.

Shayne,

Looks great! Wes finished my transmission a few weeks ago. He really knows is stuff and a real pleasure to work with as I am sure you found out. I am about 4 hours away from getting back on the road again. Hopefully there will be enough time to schedule a late fall fun run!

Mike,

Thanks. I can't really take any credit for how nice it looks (all credit to Wes). I hope we can do a fall fun run as well. My oil line will be here tomorrow and I hope to be back on the road this Wednesday. Good luck with your "4" hours!

I have about the same amount of time to put in also, but just had another baby which is holding me up, but I would love to try and get a late fall fun run going. Keep me in mind.

Is this advice still current? I am interested in finding someone to help restore an early '70s 911 in the southeastern PA area.

I needed a PPI in that part of the state a couple of years ago. I called someone from the local PCA chapter and they suggested Dougerty's. It turned out that I wasn't able to use them, and I thought their PPI price was a little high ($500 with a leakdown), but they have a great rep.

Lew,

The information for Wes Monteith is still current. He is located between Hershey and Mount Gretna and has always been great to work with. I would give him a call and trust your gut. You can tell him I referred you. The two numbers I have are: (717) 821-8427 and (717) 964-3345.

I'm trying to find a tuner in SE PA to install and tune an Electromotive TEC-3R aftermarket engine management system on my '87 turbo carrera. I did a search for "electromotive" and "porsche", and a fellow named "Paul Schwarz" appeared. Paul used to own/operate Cyntex in West Chester, PA, but their website is down and phone has been disconnected. Does anyone know how to reach Paul now?

Anyone have a suggestion on another shop to contact?

Thanks in advance!

If you pull over on 80 too fast and go off the shoulder, you will end up on Peter's roof. It is the Dryer Ave exit in Stroudsburg.
