Another tarnished title...1985 Targa, stolen and recovered in 1990 and has has a salvage title due to the insurance paying out a total loss claim. Just bought on Bring a Trailer, after a year-long search.

Although I was originally looking for a coupe in an interesting color, budget reality quickly set in and I expanded my options to include Targas (not Cabrios) in the more common colors (black, white, silver, Guards Red).

That is me in the orange shirt.

This is Hans Peter Porsche signing the trunk of my car. I asked him to please sign it, and I expected to have him lean in and sign. Instead he laid down in my trunk, and signed.

Another milestone event in my 30 years of ownership. Now at 201,000 miles, still just 41 states and Canada towards my goal of all 48 contiguous states in my 911.

Matt,
Update on the story of this car. Sold it to my nephew in Nashville. The car will stay in the family and back to it's original home.

The car needed someone that wanted to do a rebuild and get this car back to it's original condition.

1984 Slate Blue Targa

My turn! We ordered our 1984 Targa in in January 1984 and took delivery May at Circle Porsche-Audi in Long Beach,Ca. First trip was to Mammoth for Memorial day skiing. We did AutoX as well as Willow Springs and were active in PCA with the Dunkels. Son was borh July 1987 so we had back window tinted so he wouldn't bake on a wine tour in Temecula in 1988. We used the car when we had business travel from SLO to Yuma over the years. New Clutch in 1992 at 70K. Several oil leaks repaired over the years and not much else. We just turned 133K miles this year!

Where in Nashville?

Sean —
Where in Nashville does your nephew live? There’s a few DIY 911 guys here, if he would like to meet some of the air cooled folks I’d be happy to reach out .

Mine I found in the PCA classified ads and it checked off all the boxes for me…second generation 996…4S…respectable mileage…tastefully adjusted.

I flew out to Detroit, MI to make the purchase and drove her home to Jersey.

Very happy.

Next step is to address the IMS once and for all. Current LN Engineering replacement bearing is getting near the end of its service life.
