911 chasing down a M3 video - long
Found this 9 min vid of a 911 chasing a M3. Man, either the M3 driver is really good or that M3 is one kick a$$ car. Sorry if this is a repost.

Cool video. I think the Euro M3's have 343 hp. I'm hoping that was a 964 because it sounded like he was relying on low end torque some times. It didn't sound like the 911 driver was revving it up that much, sounded like some of his shifts were short shifts.
It seems as though they may have known each other and the intent of the video was to film the M3, not race.

It looked like the driver was just staying a respectable distance and not really trying to pass the BMW. They sure do have alot of traffic to deal with.....and bikes too....yikes.

Never seen so many people not get out of the way on a track.
It'g got to be a 964. Look at the wipers. Surely not 993 set up. Anyway. I think he was just trailing the guy. As said above some shifts were way to short. Looked like the M3 was really trying and every time the Porsche got caught up in traffic and the BMW took off, the Porsche reeled him back in.

That was fun. Thanks!
That one cyclist-Geez. Scary road obstacle with no courtesy or common sense. |

My God.....
It would be a blast to drive on a road like that - Imagine being one of those bikers & having a M3 & 911 pass you on the outside lane!? |

How many other guys here have both a 911 and an M3?
Does that make me 'bi'?

Ahh...I think I know who the guy who's driving M3 is...he's swede and very expirienced at Nurburgring. As far as I remember, P-car is 993 RS.
Johan Nimmersjö is going to drive this year 24hr VLN Nurburgring contest this year. This is his homepage: http://www.sticka.se/schwedenkreuz/index_frame.asp?lang_id=2

Cool video. The e46 M3 Euro version has 343HP due to less restrictive exhaust. The US version (333HP) has nearly identical performance as a 997 Carrera, so the Euro would be slightly faster than that, just as a reference point. That said, it sounded like the Porsche was short-shifting to me.
The M3 is an incredibly well-balanced car. It is difficult to get it wrong in a corner. I would love to take mine on the track sometime! |

The wipers are not 993, it is a 964 or older.

Great Video. I guess the bikes and minivans make it a challenge. It looked like it was play time and not serious racing. I wish I was driving the P car.

Cool video. Wish the 911 was driving harder. As mentioned earlier, just filming the M3. The rear view mirror is gone...it would have blocked the camera shot of the M3.
