Targa Seals

Has anyone had any experience reusing their front and rear targa seal after removing? I had to remove both when I did a brown to black upholstry conversion, both broke but seam to be on an existing seam that I can redo with intube patch cement.

Question, am I wasting my time? Should I bite the bullet and spend the $400 to replace both and endure the trial and error for cutting and fitting the front seal ( I know I have CarsInc. Dan Owens words of wisdom on how to do it)?

I would love to reuse the existing seals and let this be a future project/expense, any experience out there?

If you are satisfied with the condition of the seals then I see no reason why you could not reuse them. Just make sure the seal and surface are very clean and you use a quality trim seal glue to reinstall.

What kind of glue are you planning to use to repair the seal? I've had some success with plain contact cement, but I haven't tried that on a large area or one that constantly flexes.

Has anyone found a nice way to replace the cloth on the rear targa bar seal. My seal is in pretty good shape but the cloth is gone and it seems to help with the windows sliding smoothly.

I intend to use the same glue you use to patch automobile or bicycle tubes. It is real strong and should work fine.
