Rick,
That is a beauty and one of my favorite 914/6s. Very understated, 'sports purpose" approach and sanitary 3.0 install. You and Bernie did a great job. Is there a build thread on your 914X?

regards,
Al

PS: what is the wheel/tire combo? did you stay with the stock 901 tranny or change to a 915?

These seats are Le Mans seats from BF Torino in Germany (Homepage). They are replica's and the upholstery is done afterwards locally in Holland.

bgyglfr, you have been hiding. Do post more pics, or better yet, start a thread of your cool build.

OK.
So what I understand for me is, a hotrod better has:
- black out fuchs (bad ass look)
- at leat bead blastet fuchs (rough racy look)
- 7+8x15 fuchs minimum
- in both cases NO center caps!
- side decal (either "PORSCHE" or "CARRERA")
- must be orange or a dull RAL color (grey, olive, white, to fit side decal)
- at best no outside chrome-trim (exept windows maybe)
- lowered just below euro level
- 70s-sporty-look seats (like those recaro buckets or scheel)
- naked 3 spoke steering wheel (momo prototipo)
- louvered decklid ore some other drilled/forged bodypart (fits blackout fuchs)
- at least one RS attribute (bumpers)
- reduced/lightweight doorpanels
- front strut brace
- even better with a rollcage
- S brakes
- no sophisticated gadgets (like big reds, 3.6 engine, i.e. nothing above the 80s)

And what I need now is a 3D-printer ;-))

this one may be blue, but the matte finish adds the roughness to the look - passed!!

Doug - you started quite a thread here! I've gone through all 55 pages in the last 2 evenings! I've actually being trying to source a 993 C2S for the last year and, although agreed a deal on one 3 months back, it's fallen through and left me back at square one, with the C2S having realistically climbed out of my budget now. Perhaps fate is directing me to a hotrod. Am about to pull the trigger on this - 1971 Porsche 911E Targa - any words of encouragement/caution/advice?

Again, not strictly NB as it now has flares, but it did start life as such..!

Cheers,
Andrew

To answer Flojo
I had never really thought of it but if I tried to answer a hot rod is really anything out of the norm. Anything that makes you stop and take notice in an aggressive way subtle is the main ingredient. Here are a couple updates on my 71 3.2

Still a lot more to come interior has been refinished, head lights are being replaced, new chrome trim added. Bullet mirror, OMP vintage buckets with harnesses etc etc

Only encouragement…it's a great looking car! Lots of advice on this board about buying, be sure to look around. But sure looks like a hot car to me.

Yeah, my current car ('86 Carrera 3.2) has the same flares. I'm hoping to backdate / hotrod it, but it won't be narrow either. Maybe someday, but right now I'm just glad I have an "old" 911.

Cheers!
