Did mine for just a bit over that. Its a good 5 foot job. Not perfect but lasted for many years until I decided to backdate.
Pull the stuff yourself and save some money. Lights, chrome, bumper and so on that costs them time to remove and while its being painted you can refurb the parts. JoeA

Call this place in Los Angeles, they do a lot of Porsches and prices are very fair.
Click here for info on Axiom Motor Sports. Here is a 911 they painted, afterwards the owner decided to widen the turbo flares even more. |

This winter I am going to do mine for much less - actually just the cost of materials. Of course many will say that I am asking for it but what the heck.

Things can be a little cheaper here in New Mexico compared to Southern California. A friend hooked me up with Alex. He wasn't real busy. He had the car for three weeks. I'm just delighted with his work.

$2900 back in '98...granted this is arkansas. you can't probably tell much from the pics, but the paint is one of the strong suits of the car i think.

HIghly dependent on labor rates/local market. Here's my job. $3200 including adding the flares. Same shop in southern Illinois that did the original BB1.

2.7RACER - Beautiful color and looks to be an excellent quality paint job...impressive.
I have worked in a body shop before so I can appreciaite a fine paint job. What brand of paint, primer and clear did you use and how many coats, also any wet-sanding afterwards? Yasin

um yeah.....I hate to admit it, but prices here in Seattle are WAY higher than that. I imagine you can get a paintjob for 3k here, but i sure wouldn't want it. I recently saw a job where the owner had taken off all the body work and did lots of the prep himself, paint-job was 2500 i think, but this was on a 944. Bottom line, IMHO, I don't think a nice paint job is attainable for 3k...UNLESS u did a lot of the prep work yourself. and honestly, that's a good idea regardless.
hope that helps. K. |

Here's what $1500 got me a few years back.
I think networking is the best way to get a quality job for less. A good friend, who owns an auto repair service, had a bud in the business. He turned me onto him for side work. Guy happened to be one of the best in the area and a really nice person to boot. He also used Glasurit exclusively which made me a happy camper. I'd suggest asking friends, mechanics, other enthusiasts to see if any pros do work on the side. Can't hurt. (So far it seems the guys that do side work are associated with car dealerships and work in their bodyshops)

You may want to swing by West Coast Specialities off of Miramar Road by the Pyramid. I have had two cars done there. Great work, but not sure what it will cost you. It is Pioneer Porsche's recommended shop.
