WHAT A CAR !!!

Nicely DONE !!!

I, like GASSY and many others, encourage you to not only go on vacation, but extend it and leave the keys in the ignition and garage door code taped to the box... You're in GOOD hands !!!

:D :D :D :D :D

RSupdate 06-23-2005 08:16 AM

Excellent !!!!

From the pics it looks to be just a top notch job....Tip 'o the cap to ya Don !!!

wow.....too cool for sure...... what are the plans for the car?

http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/pray.gif is about all I can do...!

jmz 06-23-2005 09:22 AM

Man oh Man! Everytime I start to feel content w/ my own car...

feeling content with my own car and it never fails something like this shows up.

This is simply an amazing looking car.

I see this and think I could build one of these. ...hmmm, throw in a sporty interior, a/c and perhaps some sound deadening and what an awesome dual purpose car that would be.

I have always wanted an '73 RSR street car. You've inspired me.

Cheers!

...you say it will be for sale, I say let the bidding begin!

again, Nice car!

dmcummins 06-23-2005 10:15 AM

I like the door panel and handle. I assume you made the door handle/latch. Did you just weld a piece on what was there or what?

Very nice.

tom1394racing 06-23-2005 02:39 PM

Wow!!

Any more details available on the engine, suspension etc??

My RSR clone is nearing completion and seeing how you and the other RSR builders on the site are progressing keeps me going.

gustav 06-23-2005 02:47 PM

What I wanna know is did you pull the roof to weld up the stop side of the cage, or how was it done (or was it done)? :)

Porsche Doc 06-23-2005 06:33 PM

The plans for this car when it is finished, it will be sold.
After I have played with it a little.
It was built to be a all around fun car that could be street driven yet still be used to autoX or take to the track for some real fun.
This car is not a clone it just looks like a RSR. It's not even close.

The engine is a 3.6L from a 92 RSA. It has been chiped and has a K&N intake with headers and SuperTraps It sounds great!
I will be putting it on my Dynojet when I get back. But it should put down to the wheels in the 260hp range with 230ish TQ.
Thats is about what HP that the real RSR put down, But the TQ is 30ish more. It ought to be a real ball to drive. The best thing is about using a 3.6 that is near stock. It won't need a lot of maintance

The susp is still torson bar type 30mm rear 23mm front with weltmister hard bushings. Sport shocks F&R, Weltmister sway bars 22mm F and 23 R. It has alum trailing arms and adjustable spring plates. My bigger brake setup with drilled Carrera rotors.

The door handles are made from the original one. We removed the ball and took the bend out till it was flat. Bolted an alum handle on it and thats it. It works great! We made the panel out of 22 ga alum sheet. I got to use the bead roller on it. Check out how the bead in the panel matches the door bars. I screwed up two before I got it right!

The cage is a fully welded GT cage thats connected to the susp points front and rear. It is made with .095 DOM tubing through out. It will pass SCCA, PCA, HSR or any others clubs rules. We have been building the for the last 30 years and we do have some secrets.:D

If any guys want me to build you one like this or a real clone.
Just send me a good chassis. I love building stuff like this!

I will be starting another one it's a 73 this time.
It may be closer to a full race car.
But it's still to be deturmend.

Here is a few more pics I took of it today.

Don,

Who made your door panels? I'd love to get a set!

Also, I sent you an urgent message via Gruppe B PM. Please call me if you can help.

funy1guy 06-23-2005 07:38 PM

Incredible!!! What a beauty! Are you handing out cigars??

Porsche Doc 06-23-2005 07:51 PM

Hey Souk
I don't have any either. Sorry!
When I use hi perf rod bolts I have always used Raceware.
It just what I been using. I most of the time I get Pauter rods.
I have heard the Arps are just as good, I've just not used them.

I made those door panels. I think they turned out good.
I can make you some I just don't know what they'd cost.
I will give it some thought and get back to ya.

GL with the bolts.

craig001 06-23-2005 07:53 PM

Sweet!

MotoSook 06-23-2005 07:56 PM

Thanks Don. I'm on the hunt! Ralph (Carrera3.5L) just gave me a great lead that I'll follow up on in the morning. Great guy that Ralph! (Thanks for the call man!)

Let me know about the panels, Don. I'd like to paint them to match the car (BMW Titanium Silver). Call me if you'd like.

geof33 06-23-2005 08:08 PM

Don... beautiful car!!! But YOU SUCK!!! As mine sits 90% finished awaiting a money influx windfall!!!!

Congrats!!! BTW what is that back seat thing? The flat area? Did you simply weld that in over existing? I like it...

techweenie 06-23-2005 08:10 PM

Hey Todd,

The one on my RSR has a triple function toe hook, jack point and exaust support.
We also make this one thats just a toe hook and jack point.

There is a pic of your car is in the Porsche Market Letter this month. Also a couple the Es in the pic are of my guys.

I'll contact you offline about the hook, that looks like a good solution for me.

It's cool to see my car in PML, I'll have to get a copy of that!

Jeff Alton 06-24-2005 07:27 PM

If you are making more panels, I would take a pair if the price was right. I smell a Jeff and Souk group buy in the making!!!:)

Cheers, Jeff
