Space saver tire question

I just got this 964 alloy spare wheel with space saver tire (because it’s lighter).
Compared to my stock steel spare the tire is much wider in diameter, rubber seems stretched out, or is that normal?
There’s no air left in it.

Guess I have to swap the tire on the rim to make it fit in the frunk?

Isn't that the point of the space saver? You air it up when it is needed in order to drive. I inflated mine to check, though later I did think, what if that rubber had been old and blown apart?

Yeah, maybe you're missing some spacer or something like @proporsche suggests. That tire in my video is the original spare in my '80 SC.

I found that the deflated tire diameter of 15 and 16 inch tires is the same, so the tire that you are showing should have the same diameter and should fit in the trunck. Check both topics specially the second one.

Put a strap around it and cinch it back down to fully collapsed size with the valve stem out.

Diameter of Kronprinz is 50cm
Diameter of Alloywheel is 52cm. It doesn’t fit in the space around the tank.
I will swap the tire.

Btw: 2kg weight saving

? please explain!
does the Vredestein off the Kronprinz wheel not fit on the 964-alloywheel?
or does the Vredestein break when removing off the rim?

Give Harvey Weidman, Weidman's Wheels, a call. He is the authority on what will and won't work on rims/tires. I know he is installing a space saver tire on my 15" deep six Fuchs spare.

exactly what I've already seen quite often.
so the tire MUST come off and is refittable to other rims.

stay tuned, I have the wheel with me for the tire guy this evening, I let you know...

There are a lot of myths regarding removing an inflatable tire from the wheel and mounting it on another rim.
Most of the time the guys at the tire shop do not want to do it and they give a false answer.
Other myth is that if you inflate it , it will never return to it's original size.
