New Project 90 C4 RSR Backdate!
Well! Guys I am getting to do a project that I have wanted to do for awhile now.
I am backdating a 90 964 C4 into a 73 RSR look. Here are some of the specs that we know thus far. The car is white and that’s the color it will be. The graphx color is yet to be decided. (See Pole) I will be using steel front and rear early turbo fender flares and a steel long hood. The front and rear bumpers will be fiberglass, as well as the ducktail. Back to H4s and the early lights front and rear. We are adapting the C4’s front fenders to look like the early RSR. We will taking a couple of old ones that can’t be used and cut out the signal light section and weld them in the C4 fender, along with the bottom section of the fender. The rear turbo fenders will be made to look more like the original RSR. I will be having Mike Lindsey make the wheels 9.5”s & 11”s x 17s with some thing like 265 and 315 Kumos. Mike doses a great job! The rear wheels will look pretty deep. The fronts are a deferent story there only going be about as deep as a 8” Fuch. I think it will look all right. For brakes I will be putting 993TT reds on front and rear. The shocks are Bilstein sport shocks along with some nice stiffer lowering springs . Some nice adjustable sway bars and a front strut bar, to make it fun at the track. The engine will have headers with heat. I am thinking B&Bs with Supertraps exiting in the proper spot below the bumper guards. We will add a nice chip and a K&N to help it a bit. That should get it up into the 260HP and 235TQ area to the wheels. Far as the interior we will put in a rear roll bar and a nice steering wheel but that’s it. For NOW! It looks like MONSTER Garage around here! There’s parts n stuff lying around all over the shop! You know how it is when you take one apart. It takes up 3 times the space! Here is some pics The first one is how it will look when done on the outside. Graphx to be decided. You can see in the last pic that the boss for the old style jack point is still there. Behind the oil lines. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127231083.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127231123.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127231145.jpg |
Looking forward to seeing this done! I think I share a desire with Ryan to do something like that over here...
I vote White/Viper Green |
I would really like to see the progress on this one.
How are you going to do the front bumper? The 964 has the AC and oil cooler mounted on the side of the bumper. There looks like gaps on the ducktail. The same one I have on mine. How do you fix that? --- anthony |

Those brakes ar going to be Huuuuge ! :D |
WoW…20 years ago!
Wow…I can’t believe… It’s been 20 damn years since I thought of and came up with this concept idea back in March of 2004!
I came up with the idea to doing a back date conversation on the 964 chassis and converting it to a long hood RSR look Porsche. So…I bought a white 1990 964 C4 donor out of Texas for the project of 2004. $12k! This the “C4 RSR” was finished in July 2005. The rest is history! It started a whole new Porsche thing and industry! I’m not the one that got rich or famous off of it. But… I am flattered by that so many that copied the concept and continue to do so! One thing we can say is we were the 1st. and we are the longest manufacture… to date of them! We just got finished with our latest one! It’s a 91 C2 RSR 3.8L. We named it “BlackDate” and will be for sale soon! We have come along way too! It’s been a hell of a ride and we ain’t done yet!:D BlackDate pics: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fPH5mnBBvXSRe4OVjT5vkwISj0kK2qLr Thanks!
