Read the entire thread and links; I do not recommend using the crows foot!
Take the mounting block out and put it in a vise; then unscrew the sender. Jim |

will do, jim..thought i saw something about what you'd written along those lines while quickly scanning the thread. didn't sound like i;d need speacial tools either..maybe just removing the a/c compressor, etc. for clearance..

Read the thread, but the short version is - remove ac compressor, remove ac bracket (alas you need to remove the muffler for that), remove oil line, remove block. The only "special" tool you'll need is a 27mm wrench.
Just did it myself. PITA, but easy. Stef |

Once the mounting block is in a vise one can likely use a big open end adjustable wrench (Cresent wrench) or even a Stilson wrench (Monkey wrench).

so you just loosen the nut to the adjacent right of the block, slide the block out i'm guessing and remove and replace sender on the vice?

See below thread for image. Loosen right oil line and then back off the hollow union bolt- item 3 (probably what you think is a nut).

And brace yourself when you chuck it in a vise... we had 500 lbs of middle-aged humans on the greasy garage floor...

The problem is the clearance between the block and the sender. The wrench barely fit, my adjustables didn't. 27mm is larger than you think, the smaller ones won't open that wide.
Also as randy implied - you'll be REALLY leaning on that sucker to get it loose, so the adjustable ain't that great. Try not to smack anything when it comes loose. I don't remember what I nailed, but I remember that it hurt Have fun! Stef |
